Since Mother’s Day, I have been reflecting about what it means to be a mom right now.
The modern mom has tremendous responsibilities. Whether you are a single mom, working mom, or stay-at-home mom, I am sure you would agree that motherhood is the HARDEST job you’ve ever done. I know I have often felt under qualified. How about you, friend? Motherhood also seems to have the longest list of job responsibilities ranging from cook, teacher, nurse, cleaner, event planner, referee, mentor, therapist and friend.
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MODERN MOM
There are so many things that inspire a mother’s unconditional devotion. In this blog, I would like to focus on the deep love that drives mothers to relentlessly support their children each and every day. We mothers spend endless years selflessly investing in our families while simultaneously attempting to balance the ongoing demands of our homes, our careers, our schedules, and our other relationships, to name a few. Many moms currently in the baby and toddler phases of parenting are no doubt managing all this while also heavily sleep deprived.
But even in the toughest seasons, we moms choose love. The love we have for those little humans runs so deep we do not hesitate to make personal sacrifices of our time, energy and emotions. I think you would agree that these precious little ones are worth the sacrifice, even when we’re spent and the future seems unclear. These seasons of motherhood are fleeting. And before you know it, our precious offspring will be headed off to college and no longer asking for you to kiss their boo boo or give them one last bedtime snuggle.
In honor of Mothers everywhere, I would like to share some of my favorite quotes on love and motherhood:
